Printmanking workshop at Zapurza.....by Indian visual artist Manisha Vedpathak

Manisha Vedpathak

Zapurza is a museum of arts and culture situated in Pune, India. It has a beautiful campus spread over seven acres of land on the banks of Khadakwasla Dam, Pune. It houses 10 galleries/ display areas, workshop/activity area, beautiful auditorium and amphitheatre, a merchandise store and a restaurant serving local delicacies.

So in this beautiful campus, we had a printmaking workshop under the guidance of eminent artist Raju Sutar. Assisting him was artist Monali Pawaskar. We had amazing time for 3 days from 11am- 5pm.

We learned about Intaglio printmaking. Etching of the zinc plate, sketching on it. Soaking the plate in nitric acid , giving a uniform layer of black Japan paint , then comes the wiping and then printing.

Well , I dont intend to give all the details here, the above points were just to see if I remember all the steps. LOL.

Here are some of the pics of the workshop.
